Working on Worries Support and Intervention (WOWSI)

Supporting children with fears and anxiety through schools.

Working on Worries Support and Intervention (WOWSI) is a pilot project. It's helping 80 primary schools offer parent-led cognitive behavioural therapy (CBT) for children with fears, worries and anxiety.

Parents use an evidence-based online platform called Online support and intervention. Developed by clinical psychologists at Reading and Oxford Universities. The programme includes 7 online modules that guide parents and carers in helping their child manage and overcome their fears.

Trained school staff support parents by meeting with them for 20 minutes each week while they work through the modules.

The project runs until July 2026 and is supported by Early Help, the West Sussex Parent Carer Forum, the Educational Psychology Service, and Thought-Full.
