We’re delighted to offer our signature experience:

If walls could talk - The Edes House private group tour

Join us in the elegant foyer where the story of Edes House begins.

The tour opens with a glimpse into life in late Stuart England, setting the scene with the development of Chichester and how national events shaped the city. We then take a closer look at the striking external architectural features of the house.

Moving inside, we trace the fascinating timeline of the house’s owners, brought to life with historical stories, poetry and anecdotes - all revealed through the art, photographs, furniture and decorative details throughout the house.

The tour brings us right up to the present day, highlighting how Edes House now stands at the heart of West Sussex County Council. We explore the county’s history, its coats of arms and flags and the ceremonial roles of the High Sheriff and Lord Lieutenant.

The experience concludes with a rare look at images once displayed on original house panelling - images that were mysteriously lost to America in the 1930s.
