At Mighty Oaks Play Therapy we believe that every child has the potential to grow and thrive. Located in The heart of Sussex, we support children through creative arts and play therapy. Mighty Oaks provides a compassionate, experienced therapist with a deep understanding of child development.

What we do

  • Play Therapy promotes children and young people's emotional wellbeing. Play therapy involves using toys, games, and creative activities to help children express themselves. Our therapist observes and interacts with the child during play, gaining insights into their emotional state and helping them work through their feelings.
  • The benefits of play therapy include - Emotional Expression: Children can express their feelings in a non-verbal way; Problem-Solving Skills: Play therapy helps children develop coping strategies and problem-solving skills; Improved Behaviour: Many children show significant improvements in behaviour and emotional regulation.
  • For children, using play to express themselves makes sense. Play Therapy supports both primary and secondary school-age children. Some children may be neurodivergent, have anxiety and/or have experienced trauma. Some children may have experienced a loss or bereavement, have night terrors or nightmares, have a sudden change in behaviour or friendship issues.
  • Sessions are face to face using a holistic approach, follwing the child's lead. Sessions are once per week for 40 minutes with a minimum of 12 sessions recommened. Sessions can be held in the child's education setting or within the Mighty Oaks private clinic.
  • Certified Play Therapists with extensive experience in trauma-informed interventions. Fully insured, EDBS and safeguarding trained. GDPR compliant. Session fees are listed on the website.

Nicolette has been fantastic with my daughter. She has gone above and beyond supporting her with her anxiety and it’s clear how much she cares, and understands my daughters needs. It has really helped support me as a single parent and my daughter always looks forward to seeing Nicolette. Would highly recommend her. (Parent West Sussex)

I love coming to play therapy, Nicolette has helped me to not be so angry I understand my feelings better and I dont get so fizzy in school. (Child age 8)

We have found the Work of Nicolette to be of a very high standard. Our pupils who are supported have benefited enormously. The sessions give them space and time to be themselves. We have seen great changes in behaviour within the school setting, enabing learning to take place. (Head, West Sussex)
