Rest to Reset is a specialist peer support and respite service supporting families of children and young people with SEND (Special Educational Needs and/or Disabilities) and mental health challenges. We understand how exhausting and isolating it can be when your child needs constant support and you rarely get a break. Many parents tell us they can’t remember the last time they went out together, or had even a few hours to recharge. That’s where we step in. Our Specialist Peer Support Workers provide safe, one-to-one support for your child or young person in your own home — allowing you to take time away to rest, reconnect, or simply have space to breathe, knowing your child is cared for by experienced, compassionate professionals. Each family is assessed for suitability and safety, ensuring our support is appropriate for your child’s needs. Our approach combines empathy, specialist knowledge, and consistency, helping young people feel comfortable and supported in familiar surroundings. Whether you need a few hours to attend appointments, spend time with a partner or other children, or simply rest, Rest to Reset offers reassurance that your child is safe, supported, and understood.

What we do

  • We offer specialist in-home support for children and young people with SEND, emotional or mental health needs, delivered by trained specialist peer support workers allowing carers to take time out of the home.
  • Our team provides safe companionship, structured activities and emotional support, helping young people feel calm and confident while their parents or carers take essential time away.
  • Every family completes a needs and risk assessment before support begins, ensuring each plan is tailored, safe, and aligned with existing professionals or care teams.
  • All specialist peer support workers are DBS checked, insured, and trained in safeguarding, mental health, and lone-working procedures, with on-call support available during every visit.
  • We aim to help parents and carers rest without guilt, knowing their child is receiving compassionate, skilled support in their own home — promoting wellbeing for the whole family. The service is either self-funded or can be funded via social care funding.

Our users say

We are writing to express our deep gratitude for the services of Ruth, Tia and Kaya in helping to support our 20 year old daughter over the past 6 months. We have nothing but praise to describe their ability to engage, connect, make her feel liked and cared for, worthy, supported, giving her positive encouragement and helping her deal with not only her daily life but the difficulties and major struggles.

This was not a staff / patient experience, this is like your friend coming to support you. All three of the team were punctual and reliable and could often be flexible with timings if and when we needed any changes. They provided a safe, positive, consistent and enriching experience for her every day. Our daughter was able to trust them, rely on them and talk to them about anything.

Their communication with us as parents was friendly, professional, and extremely well informed, they really know their stuff. To leave your ‘child’ with anyone is difficult but when there are additional needs, unreliable or challenging behaviours it’s almost impossible to believe that they can be cared for as well as you would care for them yourselves. We can honestly say she has never received better care from any health care professional in her entire life, and she has seen a huge number over the years.

We would have absolutely no reservations in recommending these lovely humans and giving them the highest honour a parent can bestow by allowing them to look after our most precious loved one at any time in the future.
