Sunfield Ruskin Mill is a charity with over 90 years of experience in supporting children and young people with severe and complex learning needs.
We offer Day and 38 and 52-week residential places to children aged 6-19.
Residential cottages, schools, therapy teams and working farms are located on a single site.
Through Practical Skills Therapeutic Education, Sunfield offers a rich and varied curriculum based on experiential learning delivered through an outdoor-based land and craft curriculum.

What we do

  • Embedded Learning: Sunfield follows the Independent School Standards. The subjects of English, Maths, Science, Physical, Human, Social, Aesthetic and Creative are embedded within the PSTE approach. The academic year is driven by the seasons.
  • Personal Development: Young people are supported to develop skills enabling them to regulate their behaviour and emotions, focus attention, develop relationships and make a meaningful contribution to their community.
  • Residential provision: Works holistically with therapy, land and education to underpin the young person's journey. Cottages range in size from up to 5 young people. Decor is homely and bedrooms are individualised to their tastes/needs.
  • Psychology and Therapies - onsite team includes:Psychology, Speech and Language Therapy, Occupational Therapy, Music Therapy Steiner-based therapies Eurythmy, Therapeutic Art, Massage Therapy, Colour Light Therapy and Metal Colour Light Therapy
  • We support a range of needs including:Autism, Epilepsy, Developmental delay, Moderate-severe learning difficulties, Moderate-severe visual and/or hearing impairment, Sensory Processing and motor difficulties, ADHD
