Nature Recovery Fund
West Sussex County Council is responsible for preparing, publishing and reviewing the Local Nature Recovery Strategy (LNRS). While we do not have a legal duty to develop or fund individual projects, the Nature Recovery Fund will help turn the Strategy's priorities into action.
The fund will:
- support the development of nature recovery projects
- help projects attract additional investment
- enable us and our partners to deliver nature recovery across West Sussex
We have allocated £725,000 to establish the fund and support this work.
Your application should show how your project will deliver the priorities set out in the West Sussex Local Nature Recovery Strategy. You can find a summary of these priorities in the 'Priorities for nature's recovery' table.
We will also consider projects that support priority species and the targeted measures set out in Part 3 of the LNRS.
In addition, we will consider projects that help address pressures affecting nature recovery, including:
- poor water quality
- habitat management challenges
- wildlife disturbance
